How Are You in Taiwan?

This project is about giving Southeast Asian migrant workers the chance to answer that question, share their experiences, and take control of their own story.

Have you ever had the chance to tell others what life is really like for you in Taiwan? Has anyone asked you, "How are you?" This question is often offered as a passing greeting, but very rarely asked as a genuine question giving us time to reflect and share our honest response.

Within the studio space, reflect on your life here in Taiwan, taking the time by yourself to gather your thoughts and write down your musings. Afterwards you will then have the opportunity to take one self-portrait displaying your emotions towards your life here in Taiwan with our analogue camera.

This pop-up exhibition will visit various areas around Taiwan where migrant workers come together as a community. It will then conclude by using the produced images and writings for display as a collective piece. This collection will mirror the solidarity and shared involvement required as we continue to fight for migrant workers voices to be heard.
